Principal's update 2 December 2022

Published on 02/12/22

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to Y9 parents and carers who attended the subject evening on Thursday, we hope you found the time useful. If you were unable to speak to a particular teacher, please contact them individually.

We are looking forward to our festive events coming up over the next few weeks. Our Festive Showcase will be held on Tuesday 13th December from 6pm – 8pm. Tickets can be purchased on Parent Pay (£3.50 per person) and must be bought in advance of the evening. Refreshments will be provided by our wonderful PTFA – please see their cake request below! It promises to be a wonderful evening! On Thursday 15th December, our students will be taking part in a carol service at St Peter’s Church in Hope and you are all invited to join us. The service will begin at 6pm and will last for approximately 1 hour. Refreshments will be available afterwards. This event is free to attend.

What’s going on in school?

  • Thank you to our Y7 students who decorated the Christmas tree in reception yesterday. School is looking very festive!
  • Our first Y11 peer mentoring session with Y7 students took place this week. This is part of our ongoing work of our amazing Y11 student ambassadors, who are supporting Y7 students pastorally, to help them feel part of school.

Y11 Subject evening - 4.30 - 7.00 pm, Thursday 8 December 2022

The Year 11 subject evening will take place on Thursday 8 December, 4.30 - 7.00pm. This will take place in school and is an opportunity to talk to teachers about progress, attainment and any other issues.  Once appointments have been made you will receive an email confirmation. If spaces are not available, please add yourself to the waiting list.
Students will also be given their first progress of the report on this date which will show their 'most likely outcome' and target grade for every subject.  This will also be available to parents on the Cloud School app. The 'most likely outcome' (MLO) grade will be based on a variety of assessments, ATL and the capacity for the students to improve before the summer and will not be passed to KS5 providers or employers until we have worked together to quality assure the grades on an individual student basis.

Car parking and dropping off students

We would be grateful if parents / carers could give due regard to the 'zebra' crossing within the school carpark. Students are encouraged to utilise it as a crossing point. Please stop and allow students to cross if they are stood waiting. Thank you.

Students should be dropped off in the main car park, rather than in the visitor bay at the front of school. If this is not possible and you do need to use the visitor entrance, please make sure you drive as far down the bus bay as possible. Thank you.

PTFA cake request!

The PTFA will be serving refreshments at the Festive Showcase on Tuesday 13th December to help raise funds for school. We are planning to offer mulled wine and a range of refreshments, and so we are looking for all you bakers out there to donate baked goods. If you think that you could help, please email ptfahv@chorustrust.org so that we can gauge how much to expect.

Any contributions of baked goods should be sent into school on the morning of 13th of December.

We are aiming to separate any cakes that cater for specific dietary requirements so would appreciate a list of ingredients. If you would like any containers returned, please label them. Thank you in advance.
