Principal's Christmas update

Published on 20/12/22

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for all you support over the last term - we are very grateful to our school community. We hope you all enjoy a restful break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 9th January.

What’s going on in school?

  • Students and staff enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch on Monday, cooked by our fantastic kitchen team. Roast turkey or festive cheese whirl with all the trimmings were followed by either mince pie or ice cream, with crackers, tinsel and Christmas tunes!

  • Today, all year groups enjoyed celebration assemblies, looking back at a successful term. The infamous HVC Christmas Bazaar took place this afternoon, with each tutor group hosting a different stall or activity for their fellow students to have a go at. Any monies raised from the bazaar will go to a charity to be chosen by our Student Council.

School of Rock

Our long-awaited production of School of Rock is due to hit HVC from Monday 20th March - Thursday 23rd March 2023!  More details to follow.

PE – Spring Term

Boys and girls will be on fitness and gymnastics after Christmas. Boys will be on gymnastics for the first lesson of the week and fitness for the second. Girls will be on fitness for the first lesson of the week and gymnastics for the second.

We are expecting all students to be in correct PE kit (black tracksuit bottoms/shorts and a white polo shirt). Students can wear a plain black jumper or school rugby top if they are cold. Some fitness lessons will take place outside, so students may need to dress appropriately for the conditions (raincoat, woolly hat & gloves etc.)

Extra curricular Achievements

We are aware that we have a very large number of students participating at an exceptionally high level in sports and activities outside of school.  We would love to get a current overview of all these students and their achievements in order to celebrate and acknowledge the hard work, commitment and resilience that is needed to succeed. Please could you share any relevant information with Mrs Oldfield with the following information:
