Principal's update 7 June 2024
Published on 07/06/24
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to all our students after half term. Our Y11 students continue with their GCSE exams, whilst our Y9 students will begin their assessment week on Monday. Well done to our Y7 and Y8 students who have been completing assessments in their lessons over the last few weeks.
You will be aware that the Department for Education issues guidance that schools must follow regarding uniform. The guidance encourages schools to give high priority to the importance of the cost and affordability of the uniform for families. As part of our on-going assessments, we have made the decision with our supplier to no longer offer the school hoodie for all future purchases of uniform. Sweatshirts will continue to be available for purchase. This allows us to keep the number of branded items and the cost of our uniform as low as possible. Students that already have a hoodie will be able to continue to wear them. We appreciate your support on this matter.

Maths End of Year Assessments
Maths Assessments will be taking place for all year groups between 18 and 25 June. Students should have their own equipment, including a scientific calculator. If you are struggling to provide any equipment, please contact the maths department.
Attitude to Learning Reports
This week, students in Years 8, 9 and 10 have been given a paper copy of their Attitude to learning report (ATL). This report is also available on the ‘Arbor Parent’ app and has been emailed to all students and parents. (Students in Year 7 will receive their paper copies on Monday during Tutor). We have sent out details about how to log into the app previously, please contact the school if you require any further support. Information about ATL can be found on our website here: Attitude to Learning - Hope Valley College (hopevalley-chorustrust.org)

A reminder that there is a road closure at Brough from 17 June. Some school services are affected, and we have shared revised timetables with you.
